What is battery sulfation?
It is the formation of lead sulfate crystals on the battery's internal plates. Small crystals normally appear during use, but when the battery stays discharged or unused for a long time, those crystals grow and harden. This reduces battery capacity and, in advanced cases, can no longer be reversed even by fully charging the battery.
What is the service life of car batteries?
On average, a car battery lasts 3 to 5 years, depending on use, climate and maintenance. Service life is shortened by extreme temperatures, frequent short trips, a faulty alternator connection, or the vehicle staying parked for long periods without the battery receiving a maintenance charge.
How do I know if my car battery is dead?
